The 30% Club Malaysia marked a significant milestone with its first major regional expansion through “Shifting the Centre: 30% Club Malaysia’s Northern Debut” in Penang.

This marked an important step in advancing the national gender-balanced leadership agenda at the heart of one of Malaysia’s most significant economic and industrial centres.

As the country’s leading electronics, manufacturing and technology centre, Penang plays a critical role in shaping Malaysia’s leadership pipeline. Advancing gender diversity in senior management and boardrooms is not just a social imperative — it is a strategic priority to sustain innovation, productivity and long-term talent competitiveness.

The 30% Club Malaysia was honoured by the presence of YB Lim Siew Khim, Penang State EXCO for Social Development, Welfare, and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs, representing YAB Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang — reaffirming the state government’s strong commitment to gender-balanced leadership.

This Northern debut was made possible with the support of our valued partners Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI) Northern and Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry | AHK Malaysia, reflecting strong private-sector commitment to inclusive leadership and ESG-aligned governance.

The event also builds on the MoU signed in December 2024 between 30% Club Malaysia, Penang Women’s Development Corporation and National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM), ensuring leadership diversity progresses hand-in-hand with Penang’s broader economic and workforce development priorities.

As Nurul Ain Abdul Latif, Chair of 30% Club Malaysia, shared, by working closely with state partners and the business community, inclusive leadership can become part of how Penang continues to compete and innovate.

The event was held at Iconic Marjorie Penang, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel.
