  • Dr hab. Ewa Flaszyńska, dyrektor departamentu Rynku Pracy w Ministerstwie Rodziny, Pracy i Polityki Społecznej,
  • Magdalena Brzezińska, Corporate Affairs Director, członkini Zespołu Zarządzającego Grupy Żywiec
  • Dr Marta Derlacz – Wawrowska, dyrektor Employment Law w  TVN Warner Bros. Discovery,
  • Marta Olczak-Klimek, patner w Kancelarii Olczak-Klimek van der Kroft Węgiełek – Kancelaria Radców Prawnych OKW.
  • Aleksandra Włodarczyk, współzałożycielka 30% Club w Polsce.

‘When we recognise women, the Country excels’

On 23rd February, Rejina Rahim and Geetha Kandiah, representing the 30% Club Malaysia, attended the Women’s Ministry Dialogue session, held at one of the hotels in Kuala Lumpur.

It was a meeting of minds and a very engaging session!

Working in groups, split by various interest topics, issues were derived from a lab style discussion amongst group members, who were also tasked to come up with proposed solutions.

Out of 10 topic groups, 4 groups were selected to present their ideas.

Working as part of the “Women and Leadership” group, two key issues were prioritised, namely 𝑔𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑦 and 𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛 𝑖𝑛 𝑓𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑠.

It was presented by Rejina and Ts. Dr. Mahaletchumy Arujanan from Malaysia Board of Technologists to the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri as well as the officials from her Ministry.

It was a very fruitful session where collaboration, healthy discussion and many issues were raised. Change is a journey that happens in an ecosystem and takes time.

We look forward to more collaboration as we work towards a future of gender equality, financial empowerment and equal access to health and well-being measures for women.

30% Club Malaysia and Accenture hosted Board CV Writing Workshop

In the ever-evolving realm of corporate representation, women have excelled at promoting their companies, articulating their strengths, and positioning their organisations for success.

However, when it comes to advocating for themselves, many women encounter obstacles. Presenting their best selves to the world can feel like a daunting task.

Recognising this challenge, 30% Club Malaysia, in partnership with Accenture Malaysia recently hosted a transformative Board CV Writing Workshop facilitated by seasoned expert Raj Kumar Paramanathan, Managing Partner of CnetG Asia and Steering Committee Member of the 30% Club Malaysia.

The workshop provided a platform for the 20 women participants to enhance their skills in board placement and recruitment, while offering a valuable networking opportunity for them.

Raj’s experience and expertise in executive and board search and selection, combined with his encouragement to participants, fostered a truly enriching learning experience where key takeaways from the workshop included:

      •
      • Utilisation of Prime Real Estate: The first 1/3 page of a CV, often known as “prime real estate,” is crucial. Effective presentation in this section is paramount, as research suggests that readers form initial impressions in just 6 seconds.

      •
      • AOE Table: The Area of Expertise (AOE) table serves as a powerful self-assessment tool, aiding in identifying Most Significant Achievements (MSA), strengths, weaknesses, and areas of interest. This structured approach helps participants gain clarity on their professional profiles.

      •
      • STAR Format: When describing achievements or responding to interview questions, utilising the STAR (Situation-Task-Action-Results) format ensures clarity and relevance, enabling succinct articulation of experiences and their impact.

    Additionally, participants were advised to:

        • Engage in Self-Reflection: Take time to identify and articulate the three best attributes.

        •
        • Eliminate Fillers: Remove unnecessary jargon and fillers from CVs, prioritising clarity and conciseness.

        • Develop an Action Plan: Commit to completing CVs by taking concrete steps toward refining and finalising professional profiles.

The 30% Club Malaysia’s signature Board CV Writing Workshop equips participants with tools, tips, and confidence to navigate the competitive landscape of board placements. By empowering women to represent themselves effectively, initiatives like these contribute to achieving greater gender diversity in boardrooms.

Our thanks goes out to Accenture Malaysia for generously hosting this event, underscoring their commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the workplace!

French firm must do more to reach 40% female ExCo target

French companies are on the right path to meet the first step of the Rixain law requiring at least 30% women representation on executive committees, according to the 30% Club France Investor Group.

The 30% Club France Investor Group’s third annual report reveals SBF120 Executive Committees are nearing an average 30% women’s representation, an increase of 2.4% compared to 2022.

Yet, this average percentage reflects very disparate situations as the SBF120 is evenly split between companies with less than and above 30% female representation.

Nearly all the companies have targets and action plans in place, but these targets lack consistency in terms of scope and granularity.

Addressing these disparities is crucial, especially to meet the challenging second target of the Rixain Law (40% by 2030).

Gender gap widens across OECD to 13.5%

      Pay gap

It will take over 50 years to close the gender pay gap across the OECD! That’s the finding of PwC‘s latest Women in Work report.

The average gender pay gap across the OECD stood at 13.5% in 2022, having widened from 13.2% in 2021.

Luxembourg tops the index with a gap of -0.2%.

Australia demonstrated the best annual improvement, closing its gap by four percentage points to 9.9% and moving up to 10th place in the index.

The UK reported the largest slide of any OECD country, dropping from 13th place in on the index in 2021 to 17th in 2022 with a gap of 114.5%.

UK FTSE 100 reach 30% women on ExCos

      Inclusion

The UK’s top 100 ranked companies have reached the critical mass of 30% women in executive committees for the first time.

The FTSE Women Leaders Review has also confirmed women hold 35% of all leadership roles in FTSE 350 companies and 42% of board seats.

However, despite much welcomed progress for female representation, there remains an absence of women leading the UK’s largest organisations. And almost half of all available appointments now need to go to a woman to meet the Review’s 40% Women in Leadership target by the end of 2025.

Pavita Cooper, UK Chair of the 30% Club, said: “Organisations need to double down on efforts to accelerate the progression of women through the pipeline. CEOs and Chairs need to drive the focus on closing this gap, failing to do so is simply bad for business.”
