When the 30% Club launched in the UK in 2010, there were just 12% women on the boards of the FTSE 100. And we set a goal of reaching 30% – the critical mass at which point the voice of a minority becomes heard.

We reached our goal in September 2018. Since then, we’ve been working to a revised goal of reaching parity at both board and executive committee level for the FTSE 350. 

There’s clearly a problem at ExCo level – while we’re at almost 40% women on board for the FTSE 100, at ExCo level the percentage is half that at just over 20%. And at both board and ExCo level, the number of women of colour included is miniscule. 

In support of the Parker Review, we are calling on our members to have at least one person of colour on their boards and executive committees by the end of 2023. And applying the gender lens to this target, we ask that at least half of those new seats go to women of colour.
